Ingredients

NF Emulsifying Wax

Nonionic o/w emulsifier. Provides a medium break with a traditional emulsion feel, and some viscosity growth.. Usage level 4-8%.

Kester Wax K-56

Naturally derived wax ester of plant origin. Increases opacity and viscosity in emulsions, adds bounce and texture. Secondary structurant in anhydrous formulations. Usage level 1-10%.

Kester Wax K-45

Light, non-greasy emollient derived from jojoba. Improves softness, spreadability, and after feel in leave-on formulas. Conditions skin and hair without buildup; adds glide, silkiness, and stability.

Procedure

  • Under medium agitation, combine Phase A ingredients one at a time while heating to 80 – 85°C, except for last two materials.
  • Premix glycerin and xanthan and add to batch.
  • Combine Phase B ingredients and melt at 80-85°C.
  • Add to Phase B to A while mixing.
  • When emulsion is smooth, begin cooling.
  • Cool while mixing to 45°C or less.

Stability Information

Three months at 50°C, three months at room temperature, three freeze/thaw cycles.
